Do you want to JOIN the ENCORE team to help UNRAVEL a novel rare neurodevelopmental disorder and make a difference for this group of patients and their families?

Our expertise center is currently studying a rare synaptopathy, caused by mutations in the most abundant protein of the brain, CAMK2. Despite much fundamental research available, we are still at the beginning in understanding the disorder, which comes with mild to severe intellectual disability, debilitating migraines and neuro-psychiatric crisis. Our CAMK2 expertise center (the only one worldwide) consists of a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians and scientists.

We offer a PhD position (4-year) to help identify the natural history of CAMK2 as well as feasible outcome measures for n=1 trials. Your work will entail recruitment & logistical support of the inclusion of foreign patients for the brain lab facility which serves the outcome measurement pilot. Secondly, you will analyze the existing data set to establish genotype-phenotype correlations for the different CAMK2 isoforms. Additionally, you will explore neuro-regression phenomenon’s within the CAMK2 cohort as well as across other NDDs in the same molecular pathway. Ongoing interviews with newly diagnosed patients is also part of the job description.
